Community Wide Goals

Community – Wide SCIP Goals

 

Throughout the SCIP Process, several issues arose as vital in many different focus groups.  The IMPACT Council has identified these as important goals across the community spectrum.

 

Goal # 39 --  Increase awareness and usage of the 2-1-1 system to provide county residents with needed information and services. Strategies include:

1.       Develop a comprehensive marketing plan to include a variety of free and paid media, new ideas and technologies, etc.

2.       Facilitate a partnership with area organizations to increase usage of the 2-1-1 system.

3.       Develop a community partnership to serve as a support/idea exchange for the 2-1-1 administrator.

 

Goal # 40 -- Implement an interagency application for human services.  Strategies include:

1.       Implement a web-based application to share information among identified human services agencies.

 

Goal # 41 --  Develop a comprehensive funding education forum. Strategies include:

1.    Implement an educational program for existing and potential funders that focuses on community need.

2.       Facilitate an annual funder’s roundtable event to share information about community organizations, their goals and funding opportunities.

3.       Emphasize the importance of operating funds and overhead expenses for nonprofit organizations as vital to the ongoing success of such organizations.

 

Goal #  42 --  Facilitate a needs assessment bringing together data from health and human services to support coordinated program development and delivery.  Strategies include:

1.       Develop a partnership to explore data collection processes.

2.       Utilize input from county organizations to update database and make assessments.

3.       Identify a task force to evaluate and update ongoing Strategic Community Impact Plan.

 

 

Goal # 43 --  Facilitate land-based broadband access for all parts of the county from a minimum of two providers at speeds and prices similar to urban areas of the state.  Strategies include:

1.          Incentivize existing providers and encourage new providers to offer faster speeds at more competitive prices.

2.       Communicate with established and entrepreneurial providers and Maryland Broadband Cooperative to facilitate business

3.       development.

4.       Sponsor broadband awareness sessions to increase market for providers.

 

 

Goal # 44--  Increase the general public’s use of broadband.  Strategies include:

1.       Establish a community-based plan to support the costs of high-speed broadband services for students in their homes.

2.       Identify target groups in need of broadband access through needs assessment.
